The Job:
We’re looking for a pioneering AI Lead Engineer to join our clients team and build the foundational "control layer" for agentic automation in regulated industries. This is not a management position; it's a mission-critical, hands-on role where you will be an expert architect in the code, building the core intelligence layer from scratch.

You'll design, build, and scale intricate Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and knowledge graphs, translating complex regulatory documents into machine-readable control logic. This is a chance to shape the future of enterprise AI by solving the industry's biggest problem: creating a real-time, automated governance system for AI agents.

My client is a seed-stage, deep-tech startup dedicated to making AI work safely and predictably in production. Their technology helps global enterprises, particularly in the pharmaceutical and MedTech sectors, replace expensive manual compliance functions with an automated, AI-driven solution.

They have already secured over 45 clients and are backed by leading VCs after a recent seed funding round. This is a unique opportunity to join a highly technical and ambitious team that has moved past the initial challenges of product-market fit and is now focused on rapid scaling.

About You:
You are a hands-on AI architect and builder who thrives in a high-ownership, fast-paced startup environment. You have a “founding-tier” mindset and are driven to create foundational technology that delivers tangible value to enterprise clients. You are pragmatic and results-oriented, more interested in building scalable, production-grade systems than in purely academic or theoretical work. You take pride in being a “doer” and are motivated by a meaningful equity stake in the company’s success.

• Deep, Hands-on Experience: At least 5+ years of experience architecting and developing production-grade AI/ML systems.
• Knowledge Graph Expertise: Strong expertise in knowledge graph design and the ability to translate complex, domain-specific rules into machine-readable logic.
• RAG & Orchestration: Proven experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and agent frameworks like LangGraph, LangChain, and CrewAI.
• Cloud Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services such as Sagemaker, Bedrock, and Neptune.
• Startup DNA: You have a history of building from scratch in a startup environment
• Confident Communicator: You are a clear, confident communicator who can work directly with clients and cross-functional teams.

• Salary: £100,000 - £170,000, with a meaningful equity stake.
