From knowing nothing to learning something and meeting amazing candidates and sensational clients, I have learnt a lot about blockchain and even more about Go. I am working with some tech-for-good companies and a leading Unicorn company to hire the next generation of Gophers.
I feel I am off to a fantastic start in the tech space and I am well on my way now. Thanks to the great team at Initi8 Recruitment who have helped me drive forward and continue my development into the Go space. It has been great learning from candidates about Go and how it functions with plenty of people saying that they find it fast, simple and easy to use (don’t forget to check out Calvin’s blog post on why companies are switching to Go too!). I am so glad I am in this space with a great community.
I attended Gopher Con UK in 2021 which had excellent speakers and it was a chance for people to finally come together after so long. The talks were brilliant, and I loved networking at the Go conference especially around table football and then changing functions to be used for beer pong!! I met some lovely people who gave me a great insight into their everyday roles and how they use Go.
Then there was the Women in Tech Festival. I found it very inspirational and it gave me a chance to hear from other women in the same sector and the challenges they face in today’s society. It really made me feel I made the right choice to be a part of the tech world.
Both events were fantastic to learn and build my network and I would highly recommend them when they come round again. Are there any events coming up that you can suggest in the UK/Europe, I would love to hear your thoughts?
Lastly, 3 things I have learnt in these exciting 3 months are:
- 1. Go is such a popular language and so many people are switching to it; I did not realise the extent of how much Go is used all around me.
- 2. The tech industry has been a great change and an easier conversion then I thought it would have been.
- 3. Being a woman in tech is fantastic. You don’t have to know all the right knowledge and I don’t feel judged when I ask questions to help grow my learning.
I am really enjoying writing these blog posts and interacting with people to find out more. I am loving my new role and I am so glad I made the move and had the courage to do so after 10 years in my last role. I hope in another 3 months to learn even more and attend another great event to share with you all.
Thank you again to the team at Initi8, our candidates and our clients for making me feel part of this fantastic community and make me feel so welcome!
