Recruiting great talent for your team is essential, especially with the current economic climate. As a consultant who regularly works with many scaling businesses, I have been exploring the opportunity of recruiting multiple positions simultaneously more and more. A team in one Go! (Do you see what I did there?)
Hiring an entire team can sound daunting, but with the right resources and, specifically, the right hiring partner, there are huge benefits, and you can massively reduce your time spent hiring.
From my experience successfully hiring teams across the UK/Europe/USA, here are my top tips to successfully hire a full team:
1. Lock down your requirements.
Identify the specifics of each role and the requirements you will need before you start interviewing. You need to understand the role that needs to be filled and how you would like to fill it before making any new hires. Decide if your new role is permanent or contract – this can impact where you look for candidates and the type of candidates the role will attract.
2. Set Realistic Time Frames.
The interview process can vary for each employer, from candidates submitting applications to being offered a role. So, depending on your team's size, you will need to allocate resources for interviews, reviewing profiles and completing the process. Should you decide to, you could consult a recruitment agency that can guide you with this and, better yet, take care of half of this work for you!
3. Think about Onboarding.
Before reaching out to candidates, make sure you define your interview process so that you can be clear about it with potential hires. Being organised and honest with the process will allow candidates to prepare appropriately and allow you to determine which team members are involved and what their tasks are.
Consider questions like: Will candidates be onboarding at the same time? How quickly will they be contributing/affecting the business?
4. Have your hiring resources in place.
Now that you have defined the role, you can begin recruitment. Of course, I recommend a strong hiring partner ????
It's a surefire way to immediately captivate talent and create a great first impression of your company. Having a partner that works to collaborate closely with you to understand your business in-depth and your requirements in detail means less work for you but high calibre candidates finding your roles!
5. Support and grow your new tech talent
Supporting and growing your team is vital for supporting your recruitment processes. Suppose your current employees are satisfied with how company processes are carried out. In that case, this can positively affect your ability to hire new talent, as it’s easier now than ever to find out about company culture and employee satisfaction before joining a company.
These are just a few points to consider, but they offer a good structure for approaching an overwhelming and complicated process for some people.
