Linux System Administrator
Rate: £370 per day – outside IR35
As an experienced Linux Sysadmin you will be working in an exciting industry – fibre optics. You will be responsible for installing software, updating, maintaining and upgrading plans. You will need to work on redundancy and recovery plans and be responsible for security and CSIRT responses.
You should be able to work autonomously as you will be maintaining and updating documents and runbooks. Your instincts should be sharp when it comes to detecting incidences and should be able to take quick action to mend these. You will also be expected to post incident reviews and you will be accountable for defining and following maintenance schedules for Linux services.
Your Linux Sysadmin skills should be sharp and you should be able to demonstrate extensive experience in this space. You should also have worked with physical and virtual server admin and be able to troubleshoot well. Your awareness and experience of CI/CD should be good (GitLab). You should be a keen monitor and will be alerting the team on anything that arises.
You will have the authority to issue permission and administration to users. Your organization and filing skills should be superb. You will review system usage policies and procedures.
More importantly your understanding of Linux should be thorough. It will be a bonus if you had knowledge and/or experience of the following: Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, Debian, Cloud and vSphere.
